Showered with Love

We had a fabulous baby shower this past weekend.  So many wonderful friends came.  We felt love from all of our family who could not be there.  It was more than we could have asked for.  The power did go out in the entire neighborhood at 8:30 am.  The shower started at 10:00 am so I know the ladies doing the shower were a bit stressed.  Food needed to be cooked and the A/C couldn't be turned on, but luckily it rained the night before so the temperature was fairly mild.

Susan Barry, my visiting teaching companion, helped plan the shower and did a wonderful crepe bar.  My visiting teacher, Celeste Boyce, hosted the shower and has been helping us find all kinds of free baby things.  We have lots of boy gear if we have a boy.  Sasha made a fun jeopardy game that helped everyone learn more about a baby's amazing development.  Susan did a mother's blessing ceremony using purple yarn.  We passed the yarn around the room and everyone would say something they wished for me as I become a mother.  They were all invited to wear the yarn on their ankle or wrist until I have my baby.  All of their wishes were so sweet and I saw several sisters on Sunday wearing their yarn still.  It made me feel so loved.  I have a bracelet as well that I am wearing.

Today at our doctor's appointment we needed to have another ultrasound to check the amniotic fluid levels and the baby's movement.  Everything is fine, but the ultrasound technician said that based on the measurements he made our baby isn't due until the 12th or 14th.  I don't know how long my friends will wear their yarn if I tell them it will most likely be quite a bit longer.  For those curious, the estimated weight was 5 lbs 10 oz to 6 lbs 3 oz right now.  I have heard they can be up to a pound off on their estimations though.
Beautiful and delicious.

Super fun game that Sasha made!  Did you know the largest baby to survive weighed 22 lbs at birth?

Beautiful corsage sent from Patty!

Pat Kehrer traveled so far.  She has helped us start our children's library collection.

  1. You are glowing! I can't believe how close you are. It looks like the shower was a success! I wish so much I could have been there. I can't believe they might have been so far off with your initial due date. I'm always skeptical though - my doctor said Jack was looking to be 2 weeks overdue, and at my 39 week appointment, he estimated he was almost 8 pounds. We were all a bit surprised when Jack came 4 days early and was 6 lb 13 oz. My doctor said he's rarely that far off ;) So you never know! Hope you can enjoy these last few weeks. Love you guys.
